The nearly endearing quality of the documentary was the honesty of all participants but I nigh appreciated all the new facts surrounding the holocaust that I learned. The trauma caused past such events is enormous. When will people realize that death effects united states of america for generations and in fact changes the course of the evolution of civilization/humanity. Without bells and whistles this documentary was highly effective.

Rather anticlimatic

The master character didn't go into depth on her life, perhaps considering the memories were also painful. Her sister did provide of import, personal data that provided a glimpse into that family'south personal life. That bratty x-twelvemonth-old child was super abrasive; it was quite shocking to meet him dancing on graves in that Viennese cemetery.

self-indulgent, not very coherent

At that place are many families that have a history that traces back to the holocaust, many of which are more interesting than this ane. Plus, the story was not put together well, hard to continue track of who is who back and then. And the people in Vienna with whom they speak are articulate plenty, simply over again, hard to pull all the pieces together. I am sure this was cathartic for the film-maker but non and then much for the residual of united states.

I am dislocated as to why anyone would describe this documentary as "funny." Information technology was touching, gripping and at times heartbreaking but nothing was funny. It is a very personal story and I give thanks the family unit for sharing information technology.

The boy is a X twelvemonth erstwhile male child, too immature to appreciate this trip. He was not ready emotionally. However, I thought some of the comments by other reviewers were pretty harsh. He'due south a child. I hope he makes a render trip when he is older. I do recall that the story must exist told and shared downwardly through the generations so that we can ensure that it never happens once more.

Good story that took us along with them to follow the history of the family. The x twelvemonth old male child was OK - I gauge typical of a immature boy with no interest in family unit history and having fun with the filming - just like about kids today. The ending that listed what happened to the people in the picture show was the well-nigh fascinating - would have liked more info on why the German human was no longer in the library and why the info is no longer attainable. Truly sad to come across what our own people did to our own people.

Revisiting the Holocaust

Verified purchase

Its the story of a Jewish family retracing the days of the holocaust by returning to Austria, where they escaped the Nazis through great hardship.
The presentation was ruined past the inclusion of their young teen son/grandson, which the blurb describes as "funny". He is rude and disrespectful and
spoiled rotten. I don't think it is tolerable to become romping over grave stones in a Jewish cemetery, being disrespectful generally to the Austrian people and civilization and interim the fool, all the while being filmed doing and then. Linda Mills' son could benefit from a visit to Army boot camp! It shows how piffling sense the parents accept in not stopping him. Every bit information technology progresses, you lot actually wish this kid had been eliminated from the film. So doing might accept raised the rating past an extra star. Linda Manufacturing plant's family unit deserve more respect considering their experiences and losses, not only in textile goods merely through man tragedy. Information technology is
worth seeing one time equally an historical document. The Holocaust can inappreciably be classed as amusement.

I'm sure it was very important to this family to travel to Vinenna and enquiry documents regarding their family, only it was hard to follow.
